Support Brian on The Hit by downloading Try' now from iTunes

Brand new music talent show, 'The Hit', presented by Nicky Byrne and Aidan Power, kicked off on Friday July 26, on RTÉ One at 9:35pm. The six-part series sees songwriters showcasing their songs to well- established Irish artists in the hope that one of these artists will select their song to be their next big hit. These artists will then produce their tracks and perform them in front of a live audience at Dublin's O2 Arena.

Unknown songwriters sell their songs to established music stars; it's the most important pitch of their lives. For the Artists, getting the best song for themselves is the business of having a Hit.

The Hit
is a real music competition that is giving fledgling songwriters a chance to have chart success with an established artist. From all of the song submissions sent to the show Grammy Award Winning Music Producer Steve Lillywhite, who has produced bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Killers and U2, selects the songs for the series.

In each episode six chosen songwriters will then pitch their songs to two established artists in The Pitching Rooms. The two artists race from one pitching room to the next, they are under pressure to select a song they believe they can turn into a hit.

Away from the pitching rooms the two artists produce one track each and then perform them live on the show. Then it's up to the audience as both songs are released for download immediately after the performance.

Brian Kennedy and Ryan O'Shaughnessy began the Bank Holiday weekend in style, by unveiling their brand new tracks on 'The Hit' on RTÉ One on Friday 2nd August. After spending weeks working with two songwriters each, Brian and Ryan had to choose which song was going to be their new single. Brian decided to pick Kilkenny man Seán Redmond's song, 'Try'.

Speaking about picking Seán Redmond as his songwriter, Brian said: "This song is a change for me. I wanted something new but not too dissimilar to what I've done before and this song is perfect."

The single which has charted the highest will be announced live on RTÉ 2FM on Friday August 9, so please make you sure you download 'Try' by midnight Thursday 8th
