If you’re a lover of live music you’ll want to hear about the artists playing the 9th Belfast Nashville Songwriters’ Festival and Convention at the end of February. It’s a celebration of the art of song writing and with more than one hundred artists performing over five days, Belfast will come alive to the sound of singer-songwriters from all over the world. From Country to Rock, Americana to Traditional Folk, there’s something on offer for all musical tastes.

Grammy award winning artists Brett James, Nanci Griffith and Kristian Bush of Sugarland (USA) play the festival alongside talented local songwriters Brian Kennedy, Gareth Dunlop, Katharine Philippa, Peter McVeigh and Wes Grierson. Tom Baxter (ENG), John Spillane, Mick Flannery, Karima Francis (ENG) and Jason Blume (USA) make a welcome return to the event while newcomers Rae Morris (ENG), Rosie Carney, Mark Shaw (Then Jerico), Boo Hewerdine (ENG), Baz McSherry and Henry Priestman (of The Christians) are all making their headling debut.

One of the highlights of this year’s Belnash festival is the CMA Songwriters Series presented by BMI and Gibson Guitars featuring American Country stars Chris Young, Bob Dipiero, Brett James and Kristian Bush (Sugarland). Between them, they have written thirty nine number one hits in the USA Billboard Country Charts and are considered to be song writing royalty in Nashville Tennessee. Once again, artists performing Americana music feature in many of the concerts with The Farriers, Gentry Morris, Otis Gibbs, The Kennedys, Tommy Womack, Kim Richey and Jarrod Dickenson.

Panarts Director Colin Magee said:
“when we started the songwriter’s festival back in 2005 we could only dream of having such a line up of world-class artists. It’s our chance to focus on the people who create the songs we love and to put them centre stage. We’re shining a spotlight on their talent and our 9th event is going to be another great year for Belnash concerts and workshops”

Over the five days, many of Northern Ireland’s finest writers will perform in concert including Tony Kalarachi, Mama Kaz, Gerry Creen, Gary Quinn, Mike Donaghy, Michael Kerr, Morgan McIntyre, Ben Reel, Tony McLoughlin, Alana Henderson, Ursula Burns, Warren Attwell, Six Miles North, Ria Maguire, Matt McGinn, Mark Graham, John Farry, Michelle Owens, Stephen Hall, Anton Glackin, Brendan Monaghan and many more fantastic artists.

On the first Friday of every month starting January 4th with Wes Grierson, Holiday Inn Belfast is also the venue for a new monthly workshop and music event organised by Belfast Nashville Songwriters®. ‘Songwriters In Concert’ will be a platform for local artists to launch new CD’s and to showcase their music.

The Panarts songwriter’s festival and Convention is sponsored by The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Department for Social Development Laganside, Madisons Hotel, Holiday Inn Belfast, The Empire, CMA and PRS for Music.

The first set of concerts are available online at www.belfastnashville.com from 3rd December with more to be announced. Tickets also available at Ticketmaster (DV8 Shop), 23 Castle Place Belfast, Tele 00 44 2890 323744
